Achieving Fitness Goals: Where to Start?

So you’ve made a fitness goal, now what? Whether it’s losing 20 pounds, working-out 5 days a week, or simply making healthier choices, there has to be a next step. Yes, it’s intimidating and uncomfortable, but let’s be real - your goal will likely be more than just a “walk in the park,” even if that’s where you need to start. Goals are easy to make. You decide what you want and boom you have a goal. That’s it. But actually accomplishing a goal goes far beyond the decision making. You need to have a plan and you need to prepare to follow through with that plan. About 4 years ago, after making the decision to dedicate more time to the gym, I bought a journal. The first thing I wrote in the journal was, “If you want something, write it down.” So, what did I do? I wrote down my goals. I wrote down my questions. I wrote down my plan of attack. And I still do this today. How are you going to begin? Where are you going to start?

Write It Down

Write down your goals, your thoughts, your plan, and your action. Ask yourself questions like, “What? Where? When? Why? How?” Writing things down makes your goal concrete and clearly defined, leaving less room for guessing and more room for doing.

Plan & Prepare

Benjamin Franklin once said, “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” Planning and preparation are key to success in anything you do. Make time to plan and prepare. Plan when you will go to the gym, what you will do at the gym, when you will prepare meals and when you will eat them. Preparation is what makes a hard task easier. If it can be put in your schedule, do it. Set an alarm as a reminder. If you need extra motivation, you can even set alarms with motivating reminders like, “don’t stop working for your goal” or “don’t give up yet!” You can set transition reminders too. When you are prepared, you are in control and when you are in control you can reach your highest level of performance and potential.

Make It Routine

You can’t just erase bad habits, you have to write over them with good ones. Create a realistic habit, master it, and then create another one. When the time comes that you planned to go to the gym, go. Don’t make excuses, take action and hold yourself accountable. My very first recommendation for anyone with the goal of improving their health and fitness is drink an adequate amount of water and take NutraBio's MultiSport multi-vitamin. It’s rudimentary, yes, but even the most simplistic task is a challenge when done on a consistent basis. Once that is mastered, along with a healthy diet, I recommend getting in a sufficient amount of protein. I prefer NutraBio Plant-Based Organic Protein or Nutrabio Grass Fed Whey Isolate to easily get in your protein needs.

Conclusion

It’s easy to idealize your best life, actually knowing how to navigate your way there is the tough part. So start simple. Be realistic and concrete in your goals and your plan of action. Know exactly what you’re doing and why you’re doing it. Write it out, plan it out, work it out. Mastering one step will give you the confidence to go a step further. Planning and preparing will help give you the consistency you need to make small daily habits and accomplish big goals. So, drink your water and take your NutraBio's MultiSport multi-vitamin and you’ll be one step closer to your healthy, bright and strong future.
