What do you love most about competing?
My favorite thing about competing is the challenge and discipline required to obtain the end result. The journey to get on stage isn’t glamorous like you see in the stage shots. The journey is hard. You have to be on 24/7. You have to get the right amount of sleep, make time for cardio, workouts and recovery, prep your food, eat at the right time, drink enough water and take your supplements. Competing requires discipline and I love pushing myself to see what my mind and body are capable of.
What advice would you give to someone who is looking to achieve a fitness goal?
My number one piece of advice for anyone looking to achieve a fitness goal is to be consistent! Fitness goals take time and often we’re looking for shortcuts or the easy way out. When it comes to fitness, consistency is what’s going to take you to the next level and it’s way more reliable than any shortcut out there. In the beginning of our fitness journeys, it’s easy to depend on motivation. I’ve learned that motivation is fleeting. We don’t always want to do the hard work. That’s why being consistent with your daily routine is so important. Put your feelings aside and do what needs to be done, it’s worth it in the long run.
How do you configure your diet leading up to a show? Do you follow macros or create a meal plan?
Being that I don’t eat meat or fish, I find the best way for me to diet leading up to a show is by tracking my macros. Plant protein sources will often have a good amount of carbs or fat as well so balancing macronutrients is important.
Why do you choose NutraBio supplements?
In 2016 I came across a NutraBio demo table at a local NPC show. At the time, I was trying out a lot of different brands in search of one with similar values to my own. The demo table caught my attention because they had Grass Fed Whey and Vegan Plant Protein displayed. I stopped to talk to the demo rep and learned that not their BCAAs are vegetarian based, the majority of their vitamins are in vegetable capsules and best of all, all of their products are full label disclosure. This means that every single ingredient is listed on the back of the label. NutraBio’s values perfectly aligned with mine and I knew there was no other brand I’d rather work with.
What are your top 5 NutraBio Products to use during your competition prep?
1. Intra Blast - This is a game changer when I want to drink something other than water. It tastes amazing plus it’s loaded with electrolytes, glutamine and BCAAs, helping with recovery from my tough workouts.
2. Thermofuel- This fat burner works wonders to help me get shredded for the stage
3. Multi Sport- This ensures I’m getting in all my vitamins when there isn’t much variety in my meals
4. Plant Protein- Being a vegetarian it’s hard to get in enough protein, the plant protein definitely helps and it tastes amazing
5. ZMA- This helps me sleep at night and promotes great recovery.
