The Best Tips for 2021 - New Year, New You

A new year is upon us, and while it's a time to celebrate, it's also time for you to get serious. Serious about your health and fitness, that is. We're sick of hearing people talk about their new year's resolutions and how they are going to eat better, join the gym, exercise more often, get more rest, etc. No one ever follows through with the new year, new you movement.

The fact is, it takes 21 days to form a habit. If you can commit to 21 days, you could quite possibly be on your way to a better, healthier life. But you need to be willing to put in the work and dedication necessary. Will you?

It's Not Going to Be Easy

You might be reading this and tried the whole "healthy lifestyle" thing before and failed. It has happened to the best of us. No worries, but now it's time to get back up on the horse and give it another go. Not everyone can nail something the first time they gave it a try, and now is a better time than any to recommit yourself.

Think of it as a new year, new you movement. We want you to commit to the 21-day habit challenge. If you can commit yourself to 21 days of eating healthy and exercising, you are more likely to stick to the process in the long run and get the results you are looking for. Again, it's not going to be easy. You will have days where you're incredibly motivated as well as days you want to throw in the towel. Just remember that every day is a new opportunity, so don't get frustrated. Your body can take a little time to understand what you are trying to do before it forces change. Don't give up.

Don't Give Up... Don't Ever Give Up

They say failure is not an option. But failure also helps us grow and understand how to navigate in this world. Nothing worth having comes easily – remember that. You will need to work for everything you want in life, and your health is no different. Life is precious, and you only have one life to live, so why not make it the best you can?

We can't emphasize it enough, you need 21 days to form a habit. That can be both good or bad. 21 days of not exercising will lead you down a rabbit hole of forgetting to prioritize it. 21 days of not smoking can help you kick the habit for good. See where we're going with this? Commitment and dedication are extremely powerful to the success or failure of anything you do in life – especially with this new year, new you challenge we're proposing.

The Game Plan

Here is what we would like you to do. Plan out everything. That means look at your schedule, plan your workouts during the week, and follow-through. When you put things in your calendar, time is no longer an excuse. Nothing can pull you away from your obligation you made to yourself. It's YOUR time. Make it count.

With that being said, your nutrition should also be prioritized. How you can accomplish this is by planning out your meals for the week and meal prepping. Take one day during the week (maybe a Sunday) and cook all of your meals for the week. That way, you can store them in the fridge and never have an excuse not to eat something healthy. All you would need to do is grab your pre-planned meal, toss it in the microwave, and you're good to go.

Lastly, write down your goals. Make sure they are measurable and attainable. Losing 50 pounds in one month is not going to cut it. Remember, you can only healthily lose 1-2 pounds each week. Anything more than that and you're at risk for burning your hard-earned lean muscle mass. Don't start off on the wrong foot by setting unrealistic goals, which can cause you to get frustrated and give up.

Put your goals somewhere that you can see them often, such as the fridge, your bathroom mirror, your desk, or pantry. Track your progress each week to ensure you are heading in the right direction and make any adjustments needed to continue progressing.

When you put it all together, the end goal doesn't seem as daunting because you have an actionable plan in place and something to follow. Make sure you stick to the commitment you made to yourself – regardless of what the goal is. In 21 days, you should see results, and many of the things you thought were "too difficult" should have become second nature and routine.

The key is to show up every day. The only way to lose is to give up and not show up. This is YOUR year. It's time to put in the work and get it done. No excuses this year! We believe in you, and you should too. Make this the year you take charge of your health. New year, new you!
