Mark Glazier and Ms. Swee-Keng Cheong from the U.S. Department of Commerce in Hong Kong.On this trip I met with industry leaders from Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Japan, Indonesia, China, Macau and Thailand, and the common conversation across the board was the leadership role the United States currently plays in the worldwide supplement industry. The world is counting on us for quality supplements so we must export high quality supplements, manufactured to GMP standards and sans the gimmicks and scams. I felt this tour went far toward educating industry leaders in Asia to be able to distinguish between quality supplements and the scam products that dominate the market. On this recent tour I spoke in front of professional fitness organizations and industry leaders, Much of what I was preaching about was new to them, just as it was when I started here in the U.S. two decades ago. We started a revolution back then that is just now starting to catch on. The focus on quality manufacturing, honest marketing and full disclosure is starting to take hold here and can be seen in dozens of supplements introduced in the last few years. More and more brands are removing proprietary blends and moving toward full label disclosure. We've seen this shift in pre-, intra- and post-workout supplements, and now for the first time this year, a couple protein powders have joined in. It's now time to take that message to the world. There is still much work to be done and we can’t stop now. Consumers deserve to know what's in their supplements and to be assured they meet label claim, GMPs and have efficacious formulations. by Mark Glazier, NutraBio CEO & Founder
My recent speaking tour of Asia gave me much insight into the state of the supplement market outside the U.S.
I just returned from representing NutraBio Labs on speaking tour throughout Asia. One of the highlights of my trip my visit to the U.S. Consulate in Hong Kong followed by a meeting with the U.S. Department of Commerce to discuss developing new opportunities to export NutraBio supplements into the Asian market. With so much loss of our manufacturing sector to overseas markets, it good to know that the world is still looking to the United States as the trusted source for dietary supplements. This is a responsibility that we should not take lightly.
